A Grossberg Company LLP client based in Bethesda, Maryland is seeking a Controller. This client is highly regarded as an innovative commercial real estate company. As an entrepreneurial private real estate company, this client’s mission is to develop high-quality projects that create long-term value for their clients, partners, and the surrounding community.
As the Controller you will report to the Chief Financial Officer and perform all accounting functions, specializing in commercial accounting practice. Some of the day-to-day responsibilities may include:
Preparation of monthly and annual financials
Monitor monthly and quarterly variations between actual and budget
Analyze monthly statements of operations
Review and adjust monthly accruals
Preparation of various filings such as personal property and annual reports
Overseeing and implementing internals controls and financial framework
Preparation of year end work papers for our auditors
Maintain all correspondence with IRS and State and Local Taxing Authorities
Management of administrative staff and responsibilities to include: payroll, A/R, A/P
MUST have four (4) year degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited university
CPA is required
MUST have a minimum of six (6) years’ accounting experience; two (2) years of experience in public accounting preferred
Must possess an advanced understanding of accounting principles
Intermediate to Advanced Excel experience required
Computer literacy required including proficiency with MS Outlook, MS Word and MS Excel
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and listening skills
Excellent organizational skills and time management ability essential to meet recurring, and sometimes, concurrent processing deadlines
Strong attention to detail is required
