Wahed Invest is a global Islamic fintech company providing interest-free, Shariah-compliant financial products to retail investors worldwide, including equity ETFs, riba-free savings products, and zero-leverage real estate investments across major markets.
**Role Overview**
As a Backend Engineer, you'll build and scale the microservices-based infrastructure powering Wahed's financial platform. Working within the Engineering department, you'll collaborate closely with product managers and fellow engineers to deliver robust, secure, and performant solutions.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Design and implement backend solutions in partnership with product and engineering teams
- Develop, maintain, and enhance Golang microservices across the platform
- Identify and resolve defects while systematically reducing technical debt
- Improve backend architecture for robustness, security, and scalability
- Integrate third-party APIs and financial services into the platform
- Expand automated testing coverage and improve code quality
**Required Qualifications**
- 5+ years of commercial backend development experience
- Strong proficiency in server-side development, preferably Golang, with emphasis on maintainable, testable code
- Hands-on experience with both SQL and NoSQL databases (Elasticsearch and Cassandra preferred)
- Comfortable working in Linux environments
- Solid experience with AWS services and tools
- Product-oriented mindset with proven ability to collaborate with product managers
- Pragmatic approach to engineering trade-offs and continuous learning
