Communications Associate

CAIR-NJ is seeking a full-time Communications Associate to advance the organization's media presence and community outreach across New Jersey. Based in Newark with a hybrid schedule (four days in-person, one day remote), you will execute the organization's comprehensive communications strategy, amplifying Muslim voices and raising awareness of civil rights initiatives and services.

**Key Responsibilities:**

• Develop and execute communications strategy across all organizational departments
• Design graphics for signature campaigns including Muslim Day of Advocacy and Ramadan initiatives
• Edit and maintain consistency of all organizational written content for style and brand adherence
• Manage six social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter/X, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn) with content calendars and scheduling
• Distribute press releases via website, email lists, and social channels
• Produce quarterly analytics reports tracking campaign performance
• Monitor local and national news coverage of Islam and Muslim community issues in New Jersey
• Support video production and media outreach efforts
• Assist with office operations including phone support and fundraising activities

**Required Qualifications:**

• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English, Communications, or equivalent professional experience
• 2–3 years of professional experience in journalism or communications
• Expert proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro and Photoshop)
• Strong knowledge of AP style
• Proficiency across major social media platforms
• Deep understanding of civil rights issues affecting New Jersey's Muslim community
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and travel throughout North and Central New Jersey

**Compensation & Benefits:**

• Salary: $50,000–$60,000 depending on experience
