Finance & Operations Coordinator

Muslim Community Network (MCN), a New York City nonprofit organization focused on empowering Muslim New Yorkers through civic engagement and community development, is seeking a Finance & Operations Coordinator to join its team. This is a full-time hybrid position based in Midtown Manhattan (450 Lexington Avenue), requiring 3 days in-office and 2 days remote with flexible hours between 9 AM and 6 PM, Monday through Friday.

Key Responsibilities

Finance and Budgeting

• Monitor organizational expenditures and maintain comprehensive financial documentation
• Support budget development and oversight across all program departments
• Prepare financial statements and grant reports for stakeholder review

Grant and Compliance Management

• Organize contracts, grants, purchase orders, and supporting records to ensure audit readiness
• Track grant allocations against approved budgets and maintain compliance
• Monitor contract milestones and manage reporting timelines
• Maintain systems for equipment and asset tracking

Operational Support

• Collaborate on cross-functional organizational initiatives and projects
• Mentor interns on finance and administrative best practices
• Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
• Minimum 1 year of nonprofit finance, budgeting, or grant reporting experience
• Advanced Excel proficiency (pivot tables, formulas, financial reporting functions)
• City, state, or government grant experience preferred
• Familiarity with Salesforce, Bill.com, or Expensify advantageous
• Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team

Compensation and Benefits

• Annual salary: $60,000
