Graphic Designer
Job Description
The Muslim Association of Canada (MAC), a national Islamic charity with branches across Canada, is hiring a Graphic Designer for its Tarbiyyah (Islamic education and development) department. This is a part-time, fixed-term contract position offering CAD $21–24 per hour based on education, experience, and demonstrated skills. The role is hybrid, primarily based in Ontario, Canada.
**About the Role**
The Graphic Designer will create visual content supporting MAC's educational and community programs. You'll work alongside copywriters and the creative director to bring projects to completion while maintaining consistency with MAC's brand guidelines across all materials.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Develop visual concepts and layouts from departmental briefs
- Create images, illustrations, and layouts for digital and print media using design software
- Test graphics across platforms and media to ensure correct display and functionality
- Prepare design drafts and present concepts to management and stakeholders
- Revise designs based on feedback from the creative director and team members
- Manage multiple concurrent projects while meeting deadlines
- Maintain brand consistency across all produced materials
**Required Skills & Experience**
- Practical graphic design experience with a strong portfolio demonstrating illustrations and graphics
- Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop
- Strong eye for aesthetics and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organisational, time management, and teamwork abilities
- Initiative and enthusiasm
**Preferred Skills & Qualifications**
- Experience designing for digital platforms (social media, web banners, email)
- Video editing or motion graphics skills
- Familiarity with UI/UX principles
- Brand development experience
- Print production and pre-press knowledge
- Diploma or degree in graphic design, fine arts, or related field
- Experience working in nonprofit or religious/educational organisations
**Position Details**
Part-time hours under 40 per week, scheduled according to departmental needs and your availability. Described as entry level to junior.
