Islamic Religious Education (IRE) Teacher

Makini High School, a leading private educational institution operating five campuses across Nairobi and Kisumu, Kenya, seeks a dedicated full-time Islamic Religious Education (IRE) Teacher. The school operates on a learner-centred philosophy aligned with the Kenyan Competency-Based Education (CBE) framework.

Role Overview

You will deliver high-quality Islamic Religious Education instruction that inspires students to develop a comprehensive understanding of Islamic teachings, cultivate strong moral character, and embrace responsible citizenship.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver differentiated, engaging lessons addressing the diverse learning and social development needs of all students
• Set and communicate clear, achievable learning targets based on student prior attainment and progress data
• Establish stimulating classroom environments with accessible, high-quality learning resources
• Maintain comprehensive formative and summative assessment records with data-informed instruction practices
• Report regularly to parents on student progress, development, and academic attainment
• Manage classroom behaviour and discipline in line with school policies
• Contribute to curriculum planning, staff meetings, and professional development activities
• Supervise and support teaching assistants and co-curricular activities
• Monitor student attendance and report absences systematically
• Support and uphold the school's vision, mission, and values through professional conduct and appearance

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor of Education (Primary Option) or Bachelor of Primary Education from an accredited institution
• Formal qualification or recognised studies in Islamic Religious Education
• Current registration with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC)
• Minimum 3 years of teaching experience in accredited schools
• Deep knowledge of Islamic Religious Education and modern educational approaches, particularly the Competency-Based Education model
• Strong classroom management and learner-centred pedagogical skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital learning platforms
• Assessment literacy and ability to use data to drive instructional decisions
