Marketing and Communications Specialist

Boston Islamic Seminary is seeking a Marketing and Communications Specialist to support its mission of training Islamic religious leaders to serve American Muslim communities. The role is available part-time (20-30 hours/week) for remote candidates or full-time for candidates in the Greater Boston area.

Role Overview

This hands-on, multi-disciplinary position spans social media management, SEO, video production, graphic design, and content strategy—ideal for someone with broad digital marketing expertise.

Key Responsibilities

Social Media Management

• Post content at least twice daily on weekdays; schedule and manage weekend content
• Plan and execute paid social media advertising campaigns on Facebook and Google
• Analyze social media performance bi-monthly and adjust strategies accordingly
• Actively engage with followers across all platforms

SEO & Digital Marketing

• Develop and implement search engine optimization strategies
• Manage online advertising campaigns
• Monitor website analytics using Google Analytics or similar tools
• Stay current with digital marketing industry trends

Video Production

• Edit existing footage and create promotional videos showcasing seminary programs and student achievements
• Produce at least five short, engaging social media clips per week
• Generate annual video content highlighting key seminary initiatives

Graphic Design

• Create at least ten graphics per week including event flyers, course promotions, and branding materials
• Maintain strict brand consistency across all designs
• Work proficiently with Adobe Creative Suite tools (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro)

Content Creation & Strategy

• Develop comprehensive content strategy aligned with seminary goals
• Write blogs, newsletters, and press releases
• Collaborate with staff to identify and develop story ideas

Event Support

• Digitally promote upcoming events
• Create printed and digital event materials
• Assist with event coordination and documentation

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design, or related field
• Minimum 3 years of demonstrated experience across social media, SEO, video production, and graphic design
• Portfolio demonstrating relevant work samples
• Proficiency with social media platforms, video editing tools, and design software
• Expertise with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro)
• Experience with email marketing platforms and content management systems

Compensation

Starting salary: $25 per hour with potential increases based on experience.
