Job Description

King's College London seeks a Muslim Chaplain and Advisor on Islamophobia to join its Waterloo Campus in a groundbreaking dual role. This position combines pastoral chaplaincy services with university-wide advisory leadership on Islamophobia prevention and response.

**Responsibilities:**

  • Provide comprehensive pastoral care to Muslim students and staff, and serve as an inclusive spiritual resource for all members of the university community
  • Lead Islamic religious life across campus, managing Muslim prayer facilities at all locations
  • Advise senior leadership on religious accommodations and cultural sensitivity for Islamic observances (Ramadan, Eid, daily prayers)
  • Serve as the principal subject matter expert on Islamophobia, delivering high-level briefings to executive meetings
  • Collaborate with Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) and Student Support teams to develop and deliver university-wide Islamophobia awareness training
  • Build and maintain relationships with Islamic agencies and community leaders
  • Support incident response on Islamophobia matters affecting the university community

**Qualifications & Experience Required:**

  • Deep understanding of Islam and its diverse practice traditions
  • Demonstrated ability to address and advise on Islamophobia in higher education settings
  • Skilled in confidential listening and spiritual care with clear professional boundaries
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including executive briefing capability
  • Proven experience in multi-faith environments with strong cross-faith relationship-building skills
  • Ability to engage empathetically with a diverse student population
  • Experience balancing academic freedom principles with community safety considerations
  • Strong teamwork and fast-paced environment adaptability
  • Experience delivering cultural literacy and awareness training

**Desirable Qualifications:**

  • Postgraduate qualification or recognized training in Islamic Studies or related field
  • Accredited chaplaincy, counseling, or mental health first aid training
  • Conflict mediation or restorative justice experience in multi-faith contexts
  • Knowledge of UK higher education regulatory and social landscape
  • Track record leading social cohesion initiatives

**What's Offered:**

  • Part-time position (28 hours per week)
  • Indefinite contract
  • Salary: £36,024.80–£42,011.20 per annum (including London Weighting)
  • Based at Waterloo Campus, King's College London
