Job Description

ARK Academy, a non-profit STEAM-integrated Islamic school launching in Irvine, California for Fall 2026, seeks a Quran and Arabic Teacher for elementary students (Kindergarten through Grade 5) for the 2026–2027 academic year.

**Role Overview:**

Deliver high-quality Quran recitation and Quranic Arabic instruction to elementary-age students, emphasizing proper pronunciation, comprehension, and memorization.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Teach Tajwid (recitation rules) and Makharij (correct articulation points) with continuous correction and guided practice
  • Prioritize Hifz (memorization) and recitation development across all grade levels
  • Introduce age-appropriate Quranic Arabic comprehension to upper elementary students
  • Create and maintain a character-centered classroom culture aligned with Islamic values
  • Assess student mastery of recitation and Arabic vocabulary; track progress systematically
  • Maintain organized student records and use learning data to refine instruction
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and individual needs
  • Collaborate with school staff on targeted support for individual students
  • Attend professional development sessions, faculty meetings, and school events

**Required Qualifications:**

  • Bachelor's degree (overseas degrees require third-party evaluation)
  • Strong knowledge of Tajwid rules and Makharij
  • Solid proficiency in Arabic morphology (sarf) and syntax (nahw)
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and analytical abilities
  • Compassion and commitment to serving as a positive role model
  • Openness to feedback and inclusive classroom practices
  • California DOJ fingerprint clearance
  • Health screening with proof of TB clearance
  • Proof of U.S. work eligibility

**Preferred Qualifications:**

  • Degree in Arabic, Quran, or Islamic Studies
  • Prior classroom teaching experience in Arabic and Quran
  • Skill in melodious Quranic recitation
  • Hifdh certificate or demonstrated ability to recite portions of the Quran from memory
  • California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential
  • Experience managing larger classes
