Research Fellow (Postdoctoral) – Translational Biomedical Engineering

Alfaisal University's College of Engineering and Advanced Computing invites applications for a full-time Postdoctoral Research Fellow position within the Translational Biomedical Engineering Research Lab. This strategic role focuses on advancing next-generation translational biomedical technologies by integrating artificial intelligence with biomedical systems to address real-world clinical and healthcare challenges.

Your primary responsibilities will include

• Conducting original, high-impact research and publishing findings in top-tier journals and conferences
• Collaborating with clinical partners, industry stakeholders, and governmental organizations
• Contributing to the preparation and submission of research grant applications
• Developing, implementing, and validating computational tools and AI pipelines for biomedical applications
• Mentoring graduate and undergraduate students within the research lab
• Contributing to the strategic development and direction of research initiatives

Required qualifications

• PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or closely related field (awarded 2021 or later)
• Demonstrated record of first-author publications in high-impact journals or conferences
• Strong programming skills in Python and/or MATLAB
• Practical hands-on experience applying Large Language Models (LLMs) in biomedical contexts
• Solid foundational knowledge in biomedical data analysis
• Ability to independently design, build, and validate computational models

Highly desirable qualifications

• End-to-end AI pipeline development experience for healthcare applications
• Experience working with multimodal biomedical data
• Knowledge of Physics-Informed Neural Networks (PINNs)
• Medical device prototyping experience
• Familiarity with clinical validation processes or medical device regulatory requirements
