Website Designer (Shopify) - Palestinian Tatreez Fashion Brand
Job Description
Apricot International, a nonprofit organization dedicated to connecting displaced and underserved professionals from Palestine and the MENA region with global employment opportunities, is seeking a Website Designer specializing in Shopify to build a complete e-commerce presence for a confidential Palestinian fashion brand centered on tatreez — the traditional Palestinian embroidery craft.
**About the Project**
The client is a small, growing fashion label currently selling through Shopify but lacking a functional website or product pages. The designer will build the entire site from the ground up, with a hard launch deadline of end-of-year/early January 2027 to coincide with a new collection arrival.
The site must serve dual audiences: customers looking to purchase tatreez pieces and learners interested in the craft itself. The brand's long-term vision is to grow into a fashion house employing Palestinian makers while offering workshops to teach tatreez beyond basics.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Design and build the complete Shopify site, serving as the central platform for all sales
- Set up the e-commerce shop and checkout for fewer than 10 initial products plus digital downloadable patterns
- Create an Events page supporting workshop purchases and monthly community circle registrations
- Build educational content areas including a blog and tatreez pattern library for both learners and purchasers
- Design intuitive navigation paths: one purchase-focused flow and one learning-focused flow
- Customize the Shopify theme beyond stock templates using the theme editor, Liquid, HTML, and CSS
- Ensure the site is fully accessible and easy to maintain so the non-technical owner can handle her own updates
- Deliver a clean, organized codebase ready for owner handoff
**Your Background**
- Portfolio demonstrating e-commerce sites built in Shopify
- Proven experience designing multi-purpose sites (store, marketing/content, events/education pages)
- Genuine Shopify theme customization experience — not simply installing and lightly tweaking a stock template
- Hands-on experience with product pages, digital product sales, blogs, and event/booking functionality in Shopify
- Design approach centered on accessibility
- 1–3 years of professional website design experience
- Ability to commit fully and deliver by end of year or early January
- Intermediate English proficiency
**Nice-to-Have Skills**
- SEO knowledge
- Experience with digital pattern or downloadable product sales
- Interest in or familiarity with tatreez, Palestinian craft, or heritage brand work
**How It Works**
This is a project-based contract role with flexible working hours and no fixed schedule. Apricot International manages contracting, invoicing, payroll, and administrative support while you work directly with the brand founder. The client provides all logos, color guidelines, photography, and content. Progress milestones will include scheduled check-ins. The engagement runs through end-of-year/early January 2027.
