Weekend School Teacher (Quran, Quranic Arabic & Islamic Studies)

SALAM Islamic Center, a mosque and community center in Sacramento, California, seeks Weekend School Teachers for its Fall 2026 semester. SALAM Weekend School is a Sunday-based Islamic education program serving Pre-K through high school students, dedicated to building strong foundations in Islamic knowledge, Quranic literacy, and community belonging.

Role Overview

Teachers deliver age-appropriate instruction in Quranic Arabic, Quran recitation, and Islamic Studies at their assigned grade level. The position involves approximately 4.5 hours per Sunday within a structured four-hour program (arrival by 9:50 AM for morning assembly; dismissal at 2:00 PM).

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver engaging lessons in Quranic Arabic, Quran recitation, and Islamic Studies
• Support students' academic and spiritual development
• Maintain communication with parents through grade-level WhatsApp channels
• Coordinate with school leadership on curriculum alignment and classroom management
• Participate in Sunday morning assembly and school programming

What's Offered

• Hourly compensation: $20.00 per hour (~4.5 hours per Sunday, paid monthly)
• 1099 independent contractor position (candidate responsible for all federal, state, FICA, and unemployment taxes)

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor's degree preferred in Education, Islamic Studies, Arabic, or related field
• Prior experience in weekend or full-time Islamic school setting preferred
• Ability to teach across multiple Islamic subjects and grade levels
• Strong parent communication and engagement skills
