Immigration Litigation Staff Attorney (Removal Defense)

The Muslim Legal Fund of America (MLFA), a leading nonprofit civil rights organization dedicated to defending Muslims' legal rights at the federal level, seeks a full-time Immigration Litigation Staff Attorney specializing in removal defense. This position is based in Richardson, TX and requires in-person presence.

The attorney will manage a complex caseload of removal defense and immigration litigation matters, handling proceedings before USCIS, the Executive Office of Immigration Review (EOIR), the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA), and federal courts across the nation. Primary responsibilities include:

• Developing comprehensive legal strategies for removal defense cases, habeas corpus petitions, and emergency filings
• Drafting high-quality legal pleadings, briefs, and motions
• Preparing clients and witnesses for immigration hearings
• Collaborating with internal teams and community partners on legal education initiatives

Required Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school
• Active bar admission in at least one U.S. state
• Admission to at least one federal jurisdiction
• Minimum of 3 years of removal defense experience
• Minimum of 1 year of federal court litigation experience, including habeas corpus matters
• Strong legal research and writing capabilities

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior nonprofit legal experience
