Managing Director

CAIR San Francisco Bay Area, the nation's oldest CAIR chapter office led by Executive Director Zahra Billoo, is seeking a full-time Managing Director to serve as second-in-command and drive organizational growth. This hybrid position offers strategic leadership and operational management across the organization.

Position Overview

As Managing Director, you will be the internal leader across all departments, ensuring alignment with the Executive Director's strategic vision. You will be central to scaling the organization's civil rights impact, strengthening internal coordination and systems, and building a high-performing, mission-aligned team.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead weekly cross-departmental check-ins and hold teams accountable to organizational priorities
• Facilitate day-to-day management of operations and represent the Executive Director as needed
• Directly supervise departmental leads across legal, programs, development, and communications functions
• Assess and scale organizational capacity while building operational infrastructure
• Improve efficiency and oversee, develop, and evaluate programs across multiple departments

Requirements & Qualifications

• Minimum five years of senior-level management experience (nonprofit, social justice, advocacy, or public policy preferred)
• Demonstrated alignment with CAIR's civil rights mission
• Knowledge of challenges facing the American Muslim community
• Genuine commitment to working in an organization grounded in Islamic values of justice, courage, and collaboration
• Experience in organizational assessment and scaling, operational infrastructure building, efficiency improvement, and multi-department program oversight

What We Offer

• Salary: $133,000–$167,000 annually
