HBKU seeks applications for Open Rank Faculty Positions at Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor levels at the Division of Computing and Electrical Engineering. The selected candidate will be responsible for advancing educational excellence and research innovation in the field of Quantum Information Science (Quantum Computing, Quantum Communication, Quantum Sensing). To conduct teaching, research, and service to contribute to HBKU becoming a world-class research university and collaborate with faculty members and students to create a vibrant university community that will positively impact and contribute to the development of Qatar and the region by advancing knowledge in their field and developing human capacity through their teaching.
Continuously update curriculum materials and instructional methods to maintain relevance with industry standards and technological advancements.
Supervise and mentor students in their research thesis and dissertation projects.
Actively seek and secure funding through research grants to support departmental and personal research initiatives.
Lead research projects that contribute to the knowledge base of quantum technologies and align with HBKU’s strategic goals.
Foster relationships with the Technology and Innovation industry to enhance the practical impact of academic research and teaching.
Contribute to the overall ecosystem by integrating industry insights into academic activities and collaborations.
Participate in various university and college committees.
Engage in a range of administrative duties and contribute to strategic planning and execution.
Provide service to the broader professional and lay community, both within Qatar and internationally, relevant to the academic specialty.
Disseminate research findings through scholarly presentations, publications, and community engagements to enhance HBKU’s reputation as a leader in research and education.
A Ph.D. in Quantum related discipline, or a closely related discipline, from a reputable university.
Minimum five years of relevant full-time university teaching and research experience in the corresponding rank. Additional experience in higher education or related industry areas, demonstrating professional maturity and productivity, is highly regarded.
Experience in mentoring students and fostering a collaborative research environment.
A robust portfolio of scholarly endeavors, including funded research grants, publications in international journals, intellectual property, or patents.
Evidence of a significant number of publications in top-tier journals within quantum related field, such as quantum computing, quantum communication, and quantum sensing, in line with peers at the same rank.
Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups, cultures, and communities.
Ability to develop a viable research program with significant contributions to quantum-related fields.
The ideal candidate will specialize in a quantum information field, such as quantum computing, quantum communication, and quantum sensing, with expertise spanning both theoretical advancements and practical applications.
Experimental expertise in a quantum-related field is a plus.
