Job Description

About Scale Pledge

Scale Pledge is a tech-focused influencer marketing agency helping brands connect with creators through strategic, performance-driven influencer campaigns.

As the agency grows, we are building more structured systems for recruiting, evaluating, and onboarding team members across project-based, internship, and operational roles.

About the Role

We are looking for a Recruitment & Onboarding Intern to help manage recruitment projects from initial hiring request through candidate selection and onboarding.

This is a hands-on, unpaid, project-based internship designed for someone who already understands the fundamentals of recruiting and wants experience applying that knowledge in a real working environment.

This is not a shadowing internship or a role built around step-by-step instructions.

You will receive recruitment briefs from the CEO outlining the role, hiring need, requirements, and relevant constraints. From there, you will be expected to translate that request into an organized recruitment process, execute it, evaluate the results, and improve the process over time.

The role follows a simple operating philosophy:

Test → Measure → Learn → Improve

Key Responsibilities

You may be responsible for:

  • Reviewing recruitment briefs provided by the CEO

  • Understanding the purpose, responsibilities, requirements, and success criteria for each role

  • Developing a sourcing and recruitment strategy based on the specific hiring need

  • Creating and publishing role listings

  • Using Scale Pledge's custom website application system to manage recruitment

  • Creating application forms and role-specific screening questions

  • Organizing candidate applications and recruitment stages

  • Researching and identifying appropriate sourcing channels

  • Conducting candidate outreach when required

  • Screening applications against documented requirements

  • Managing asynchronous screening processes

  • Developing relevant interview questions, assessments, or work samples

  • Coordinating interviews and candidate communication

  • Maintaining an organized candidate pipeline

  • Documenting reasons for advancing or rejecting candidates

  • Preparing candidate recommendations for CEO review

  • Coordinating the onboarding process for selected candidates

  • Maintaining recruitment documentation and internal records

  • Reviewing recruitment results and identifying opportunities for improvement

  • Supporting additional recruitment and onboarding projects requested by the CEO

Many recruitment projects may involve outreach to Muslim communities and audiences, particularly where those communities are relevant to Scale Pledge's projects, mission, or recruitment strategy.

How Recruitment Projects Work

The CEO will typically provide a recruitment brief explaining what Scale Pledge needs.

You will then be expected to take ownership of the recruitment process:

Recruitment Brief → Role Analysis → Recruitment Strategy → Application Setup → Sourcing & Posting → Screening → Interviews / Assessments → Candidate Recommendation → Selection → Onboarding → Performance Review → Process Improvement

The exact process may change depending on the role.

You should not assume that the same sourcing strategy, application questions, interview process, or assessment will work for every position.

Part of your responsibility is determining what process makes sense for the specific hiring need and why.

Required Qualifications

We are looking for someone who:

  • Understands the fundamentals of recruiting and candidate sourcing

  • Understands basic screening and candidate evaluation

  • Communicates professionally and clearly in English

  • Is comfortable working independently

  • Can take a goal or brief and determine the steps required to execute it

  • Pays close attention to details

  • Can organize multiple candidates and recruitment stages effectively

  • Is comfortable researching solutions when they do not already know the answer

  • Can explain the reasoning behind recruitment decisions

  • Is willing to experiment, review results, and improve their approach

  • Can receive feedback and make adjustments quickly

  • Is dependable and follows through on responsibilities

Nice to Have

These are helpful but not required:

  • Previous sourcing or recruiting experience

  • Experience managing applicants or candidate pipelines

  • Experience with LinkedIn recruiting or outreach

  • Experience writing job descriptions

  • Experience creating screening questions or interview scorecards

  • Experience conducting interviews

  • Experience with asynchronous screening methods such as recorded video responses

  • Familiarity with applicant tracking systems or recruitment platforms

  • Experience recruiting for internships, freelance, remote, or project-based roles

  • Experience recruiting within online communities

  • Familiarity with creator marketing, influencer marketing, digital marketing, or technology

  • Experience documenting SOPs or improving internal processes

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role is not measured simply by how many people you contact or interview.

You should be able to:

  • Consistently attract relevant candidates

  • Keep candidate pipelines organized

  • Identify qualified candidates efficiently

  • Reduce unnecessary steps in the recruitment process

  • Create a professional candidate experience

  • Make recommendations supported by evidence

  • Understand which sourcing channels produce stronger candidates

  • Identify where candidates are dropping out of the recruitment funnel

  • Improve application, screening, and interview methods based on results

  • Successfully onboard selected candidates

  • Build processes that can be reused and improved for future hiring

Over time, another recruiter should be able to understand and follow the recruitment systems you helped develop.

Working Style

This role provides significant independence.

You will receive direction on what Scale Pledge needs to accomplish, but you should not expect every individual step to be provided to you.

You are expected to:

  • Use knowledge you already have

  • Research when necessary

  • Make reasonable decisions

  • Test different approaches

  • Track results

  • Identify mistakes

  • Recommend improvements

  • Apply what you learn to the next recruitment cycle

The goal is not to execute the same process repeatedly. The goal is to determine what actually works and build a better recruitment system from the evidence gathered.

What You'll Gain

This role is intended to provide practical experience that can become a meaningful portfolio project.

Depending on the projects completed, you may gain experience in:

  • End-to-end recruitment

  • Candidate sourcing

  • Recruitment strategy

  • Applicant screening

  • Candidate outreach

  • Structured interviews

  • Candidate assessments

  • Recruitment funnel management

  • Applicant management systems

  • Candidate communication

  • Hiring recommendations

  • Onboarding

  • Recruitment analytics

  • Process improvement

  • SOP development

By the end of the internship, you should have contributed to a documented recruitment system and be able to explain not only what you did, but what you tested, what worked, what failed, and how you improved the process.

Who This Role Is Best For

This opportunity is best suited for someone who already understands recruiting fundamentals but needs real projects where they can apply and strengthen those skills.

It may be especially useful for someone looking to:

  • Build practical recruiting experience

  • Strengthen their professional portfolio

  • Manage recruitment beyond classroom exercises

  • Gain experience working directly with a founder

  • Practice making independent recruitment decisions

  • Learn through execution rather than observation

Application Process

Our application process is designed to evaluate candidates efficiently without immediately requiring a live interview.

Application → Asynchronous Screening → Application Review → Additional Assessment or Interview if Needed → Final Review → Selection & Onboarding

Selected applicants will receive further information about the next stage.
